How am I Showing Up as a Leader?:​
An Introduction to Needs-Based Communication​ (NVC)
​Communication grounded in self-awareness and self-responsibility, not blame

​a 90-min live interactive workshop session


In this 90-min session, we'll give you a first glimpse at needs-based communication (NVC) and how it contrasts with the typical conversations we have when emotions rise. 

At the core of the session is the Five Chairs Activity where, not only will you hear the difference in words, but you'll experience the difference in underlying energy that you feel. Additionally, the Five Chairs Activity provides a framework for learning NVC that we use throughout Needs-Based Communication (NVC) CORE CONCEPTS and more advanced workshops. 

The concepts introduced in this session include the four parts of needs-based communication (observation, feelings, needs, requests) and the four skills sets of needs-based communication (pausing when reactive, self-connection, authentic expression, empathic listening).


Each participant will apply the learnings of the session to their own work or home relationship that they want to enhance. Note that while our focus is on work relationships, the skills and mindsets to be learned applies equally to both.

Come and see the beautiful simplicity of needs-based communication concepts, along with the invitation—and challenge—to develop a new perspective of seeing people through human needs.

NOTE:
  1. This session is the 4th session of the Introduction to Conscious Leadership Series, where it is entitled How am I Showing Up as a Leader?.​
  2. ​It is a prerequisite for Needs-Based Communication (NVC) CORE CONCEPTS and advanced workshops.

  4. For those already using NVC within their organization, this session is ideal to onboard new employees so that they have familiarity with NVC.
