Projects

  • NVC Program at the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women

Begun in February 2006, Basileia LLC has an ongoing program to bring NVC awareness and skills to the inmates of this prison. The core of this program is a 16-week session for a group of about 20 inmates that meets weekly.
  • Virginia & Mid-Atlantic NVC Circles

New projects for 2007, the intention is to create an ongoing connection with other NVC communities in Virginia & the Mid-Atlantic for mutual support and coordination of regional group learning events.
  • Integrating NVC into Playback Theater

In Playback Theater, someone tells a story or moment from their life, chooses actors to play the different roles, and then watches as their story is immediately recreated and given artistic shape. Beginning in October 2006, NVC was introduced to enhance the way the troupe connects with one another, to create an environment where creativity & authenticity thrive, and to contribute to the art form and quality of performances.
  • NVC as a Mindfulness Practice

At the core of NVC is the relationship with ones self. NVC invites us to be self-aware and to be self-connected. Learning these skills along with self-empathy, self-compassion & self-responsibility opens up a rich mindfulness process. As we explore this space, we want to share it with others.
  • Somatic Forms that are in harmony with NVC

We are exploring a variety of somatic forms that appear to express NVC in a physical way rather than with words. Among the forms we are exploring are Contact Improv, Playback Theater, Svaroopa Yoga, Ki-Aikido, and Alexander Technique.
